When we returned from our Gustav hurrication, the house was a wreck. So, I instituted what I thought at the time was an ingenious and revolutionary idea- The Box! Everything that was lying around that did not belong was to go into the box to be reviewed and put away at a later date. This included mail, random papers, light bulbs, candles, pencils, computer microchips, and even, for some reason, a full size drill. When the box was full, the house looked great. All surfaces were clear and when you walked in the door, it looked like the "adult" house I am always striving for.
The box sat and sat and sat some more until finally Big Monkey decided to go through it this week. What that means is everything had to come out of the box. And, somehow, it has all made its way back to where it was before it went into the box. The tools didn't make it to the garage, the bills now sit on the dining room buffet, the light bulbs still haven't been replaced, and the computer chips are not any closer to being in the computers.
Thus goes the story of the box...

Heh. I've got "boxes" all over my garage from our move that was, uh, two years ago.
Visit The Natural State Hawg!
Hubby is the BOXer in our family. He always put all out of place things in a box hoping that I'll get them all sorted out someday. Unfortunately, I'm not so great with sorting, so the boxes remind sitting where he left them until the princess decides to explore them. lol!
Joe reviewed my blog after I e-mailed a review request. E-mail me and I'll send it to you. :)
And I'm familiar with "the box" too. :)
May there's something to the chaos theory after all!
Run an experiment ... put everything back into the box and see what happens.
Yeah we have done the box, the basket, and the drawer and each has failed me.....
that's a good idea. wish i would've thught of it. sorry the big monkey came in and spilled everythng. that had to suck!
ohhhh, The Box. I have had many in my lifetime...The "we're gonna have last minute company box" I still have a few of them shoved in my bedroom closet :)or the "I can't stand to look at this crap anymore box" the fun thing about it, when you do actually dust of the boxes and decide to finally put the insides to their right places, I normally find stuff I forgot about. That is always fun LOL!
you're really becoming a blog maniac! are all these folks friends you know in rea life or have you attracted followers in the blogosphere? I'm impressed!! sandy
Hey Sandy,
Nope, these are all blogosphere friends. Its an interesting world out there in blogland!
I need a box! But I wouldn't open it up again. I would love to have a house that looks "grown-up." I am a clutterbug.
I have the box, and it has not been opened since returned from the Gustave chicken run. Unfortunately, there's more stuff that has magically appeared to take the stuff in the box's place. Yikes.
