It's Crawfish Time!!!

After Mardi Gras, a quiet falls upon the City and it is usually around this time when Louisianians start to get an itch. It begins slowly as a sweet, salty smell fills the air near groceries and fish markets. The Catholics stop eating meat on Fridays and then everyone realizes... It's Crawfish season!

Friday, I couldn't hold out any longer. We invited some friends over, bought 13 pounds, sat on the front porch, and enjoyed some of that hot, spicy goodness! The flavor was great although they were a bit smaller than I like. Can't wait to have some more!

Yummy - this reminds me of one of my good recipes! I grew up in Nebraska and have lived in Virginia for 20 years! One of my favorite recipies is one that a neighbor here gave me ~ "Lo Southern Boil" - Corn on the Cob, potatoes, spicey shrimp and sausage! My family in NE loves it, so when hubby and I just met up with all of them in California in January for a golf tournament, my brother requested this for dinner on the night it was my turn to cook!

Love that picture! Reminds me of a mud-bug boil I attended in Biloxi. It was great! Now, I'm hungry.

Do you know anyone who ships live crawfish for cheap? My wife's family is coming here for Easter weekend and Baby George's first birthday bash (you wanna come?). I wanted to show them what Good Friday means in South Louisiana. Even if we are in Easton.

I don't usually miss living on the Gulf, but seeing that photo sure made me miss home. I can taste it just by looking at it. My fingers are buring from seasoning overload. haha
